I have had my Suunto Core for over 6 YEARS now. Over 6 years of daily use, seriously, this thing has not leave my wrist. I am an enlisted military service member with 11+ years in the infantry, I am also a firefighter/paramedic for one of the busiest departments in the country. Needless to say I have put this watch through its paces and have abused the life out of it. It has been through hell and back to include military deployments to Iraq and Africa (year long deployments). It has been inside burning houses, heavy interior fire fighting inside structures, car fires, in the ocean on shallow dives, in rivers, on hikes and countless of other events.... This watch has seen it all for the last 6 years and still running strong.
I have read negatives about straps and other things but I have to say mine has been nothing but great to me. Yes, I have ripped of the small strap band. I contacted Suunto about maybe sending me a new one, figured its such a small piece they can provide for free. Well, they wanted me to buy all new straps that run about $60. I did not want to buy a new pair of straps just for that so I made my own out of 550 cord. That 550 has been on it for about 4 years with no issues.
The top current review on this watch claims the band is fragile , dry rots and cracks. Guess what, I have yet to change out my bands...6 years later!!! They are flimsy and extremely broken in now, might be time for a swap but won't do it until these fail me. The battery life is good on it as long as you don't leave unnecessary features on all the time. For instance, I do not need to know if the watch senses a storm coming in or a change in pressure. I turn on when I am in the field if needed but until than that is off, no need for the chirping. Do things like this extends my battery life. I swap batteries about 1-2 times a year, thats it.
Overall, I love this watch and will continue to wear it everyday. I have had friends buy them and feel the same way. I get slightly jealous when I see a new one, they look nice when new and pitch black features, but wouldn't trade my broken in, scarred up, battle worn one for anything. Just take a look at some of my pictures. You can clearly see I have shown no mercy to this thing.
I am currently overseas again....and STILL wearing this.

Watch broke in less then a year due to a leak in the watch. sent to company to fix under warranty and they told me that it would cost 130 for a replacement. THEY DON'T BACK UP THERE PIECE OF JUNK. you would get more out of your money by lighting it on fire because at least the fire would keep you warm for a second.

I got this watch November 12th 2017. I have had this watch for 3 months. First let me start the review by saying l am a big Gshock Collector. I have 40 gshocks and 12 Protrek watches. I love ABC watches. I ride mountain bikes ,swim , hike and go to the gym.I am a active soon to be 56 years old.I love fishing boating everything with in reason. So my review about Suunto Core. I love the way the watch feels on my wrist. I have a 7 inch wrist and the watch feels great. I like the Compass which is accurate. The Barometer is good and the Altimeter works well. The watch is easy to read during the day . What I don't like about the watch is battery instead of solar and the watch is only water resistant to 30 meters.I have had it under water in a pool for 2 hours today Swimming no problems. I would not use this in water all day.l was taking a chance today. I forget to wear one of my gshocks or Protrek watches. The watch has a depth meter to 10 feet. But I heard a lot of reviews saying the watch leaks after swimming. I now a lot of my friends in the military wear them. I really do like the watch for comport.You can wear the watch at formal occasion to. I bought the watch because Denzel Washington wore it in the Equalizer movie.That watch was made just for the movie. The seconds on this watch are very small. Now for durability. The watch in no way could stand the treatment that a Gshock or Protrek Could . This is a great watch for comfort and I like the way it looks. I recommend this watch . I do like it and wear it often. Now I am a watch Collector. This would not be my first choice. To me the best watch is the Gshock or Protrek. Time Will tell how long it last. Good luck on any watch you buy. Remember the best watch is the one your wrist. Buy it at Amazon and save money. I will update in the future on the battery life .

Absolutely loved this watch for the majority of time I owned it. Great options for altitude, temp, compass, ect... Decent band and great look overall. Watch was worn daily for about a year 24-7 and the buttons on the right side of the watch starting failing to spring back to adjustable positions. This isn't a Navy Seal situation, but rather a desk job situation and standard mow the lawn deal. The buttons eventually stuck in completely and required manual pulling out of the buttons.
Researched this and I am not alone on this glitch. Have several other brands of watches and none have this problem. Can't recommend.

I can't be more satisfied with this great watch. I heard about Suunto watch since many time. As Im anthropologist, documentarist, professional photographer and videomaker I spent all the time travelling to desert, to high mountains, diving to work with archaeologists, and other extreme environment places. Few time ago I spent two weeks in Annapurna and Himalayas doing some research and is very important there we know all the time the altitude, to avoid altitude sickness. Also important you know the deep when diving, specially due the video equipment I use when diving. I decide to buy this watch as is the most simple Suunto model where battery last for many time, the last models with GPS are not so good for me as I spent many time in places where is not easy to charge watch due lack of electrical power available. Few time after buying it, I order a leather strap to use in more formal places, like office, meetings and other official events. When I travel to extreme places I change to the original black rubber strap in few minutes. After use a lot of Casio and other sport watches, Im very satisfied with this great watch, the Suunto Core.

10数年使ったPROTREKに OPENのメッセージが出てしまい、自分で修理したもののコンパスが使えなくなったので悩んだ末、手ごろな価格だったこの時計を購入しました。
山で使った経験から評価しました、個々の機能、性能、精度は不足がないような気もしますが・・・
長くなりますが、登山で使用する人のために（町使いの人は無視してください）書きました。
(1) 電池
この時計は、約一年の電池寿命、防水を考えるとパッキンごとの取り替えになるでしょう（約1000円）、protrekはソーラーで電池のことは考えなくてもいい
(2) 時刻の正確さ
PROTREKの電波時計に対し、クロノメーター そんなに狂いませんが、修正は面倒
(3)軽さ、付けやすさ見た目
圧倒的にこの時計がいい、金属ベルトの普通の腕時計より軽く、付けやすい。
薄いので見栄えはいい
(4) 見やすさ
黒地に文字が銀色に近い液晶で、少し暗いと読めない、小さな文字は全く見ずらい
コントラストの調整ができるらしい（まだやってない）がこのままでは、予定の時刻より遅くなり、薄暮になった時使えない。（歩きながらの点灯操作は良くない）
(5) 操作性、表示内容
とにかく面倒くさい、例えば基準高度の設定はPROTREKでは2アクションで修正操作にかかれたがこの時計はメニューの選択など直感的にはできない、また高度と気圧の同時表示はもちろん表示の切り替えもメニューを介して面倒な操作をしないとできない
PROTREKはボタンを押すだけで切り替えれる。
(6) その他
①歩いているうちに、表示が勝手に変わる、ボタンが飛び出しているので手首を曲げると表示を切り替えるボタン（龍頭に相当するところにある）を押してしまう⇒なんでボタンが飛び出しているんだろう？
②電子コンパスが結構狂ってしまう気がする
今は登山口で念のためくるくる回して調整している、特に室内ではよく狂う
結論
どうも設計者が経験不足のような気がする、フィンランドの老舗らしいが、登山で使うツールとしてはPROTREKが2枚も3枚も上だと思う、これから使い込んで慣れていくかもしれないが、登山でお使いになるならPROTREKを無条件にお勧めする。

Acquistato da poco, ad un prezzo scontato (altrimenti non credo che l'avrei preso) e consegnato in tempi velocissimi grazie ad Amazon... Prime impressioni generali: l'orologio ha un'estetica gradevole, è realizzato tutto in plastica, compreso il vetrino... il che lo rende strutturalmente fragile. Anche il cinturino è in plastica ma abbastanza confortevole. Il sistema di chiusura e soprattutto i due passanti tengono bene, ma sono così aderenti che rendono un tantino difficoltoso toglierlo dal polso. Forse è stato studiato così e tutto sommato può essere un pregio. Il quadrante è bello ma le cifre, pur essendo molto grandi, sono poco contrastate e visibili, a seconda della luce ambientale. Devo pensare che sia stata una scelta precisa, altrimenti non sarebbe costato niente rendere le cifre più luminose. Comunque, come in tutti gli orologi digitali, esiste il tasto della retroilluminazione. Diciamo che la lettura dell'ora e del display è sufficiente. Tra le lingue presenti non c'è l'italiano e bisogna almeno capire un po' d'inglese. In ogni modo il software per impostare ed usare le altre funzioni è abbastanza macchinoso e non sempre facilmente intelligibile. In teoria questo orologio ha diverse funzioni ma ancora non so valutare se diano valori attendibili o meno. Molti utenti hanno scritto di no, diversi l'hanno addirittura restituito o per la scarsa luminosità del display o per l'inattendibilità dei risultati forniti. Da notare che l'orario dell'alba e tramonto, che ritengo una funzione utile, è tarato su una città europea nessuna delle quali è italiana. Io ho dovuto indicare Berlino come meridiano di riferimento... in pratica l'Italia per loro non esiste. A parte questa considerazione, diciamo che pagato intorno ai 100-110 euro, essendo sostanzialmente un orologio di plastica made in China, forse li vale (il prezzo di listino originario è davvero una follia), ma soprattutto per il marchio... tuttavia mi riservo di testare meglio le altre funzioni dell'orologio (altimetro, barometro, bussola) per dare un giudizio più preciso. Per ora lo valuto un orologio con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo, essenziale come materiali ma tuttavia discreto ed esteticamente bello.

Hier meine Erfahrungen nach nun 10 Monaten:
Die Uhr ist optisch der Hammer
Material ist finde ich ebenfalls Top
Armband ist sehr sehr angenehm
Technische Möglichkeiten sind bis auf ein paar Ausnahmen (nix für Taucher) ebenfalls Top
Höhenmesser funktioniert soweit ich das bisher beurteilen konnte
Sturmwarnung funktioniert ebenfalls Top.
Stoppuhr, Countdown, Barometer etc. auch super. Wenn man schwimmen geht und man auf den Grund von 5m taucht, so ist die Anzeige fast exakt. Super auch Sonnenaufgang und Untergang...wirklich nah an der Wahrheit...
Leider soll und darf man die Knöpfe unter Wasser nicht betätigen, das kann die Uhr schrotten. Also von daher sehe ich den Tiefenmesser nicht als Sinnvoll an. Eher etwas für Bergarbeiter ;-)
Thema Licht und Display-Anzeige:
Sie ist natürlich nicht so hell wie im Film der The Equalizer, da es sich bei der Uhr im Film um eine Sonderanfertigung für den Film handelt. Die Rezensenten die dies so extrem negativ abtun haben leider in den meisten Fällen (in nicht allen) Recht. Bei dieser Uhr ist die Beleuchtung super und für meine Augen ist alles sehr gut wahrnehmbar. Im Kino macht sich das ebenfalls positiv bemerkbar.
Thema Knöpfe und "schnell defekt" weil diese eingerastet bleiben. Auch hier haben die Rezensenten leider Recht.
Ich habe diese Uhr etwa 4 Monate im Einsatz gehabt und konnte alle Funktionen so nutzen wofür sie eigentlich auch da sind. Jedoch hat sich bei mir dann der obere linke Druckknopf verabschiedet bzw. seine Funktion verloren. Was speziell für das nutzen der Stoppuhr tragisch ist. weiterhin hat sich der mittlere rechte Druckknopf (Zugang zum Menü) verhakt. Er hat zwar seine Funktion weiterhin ausgeführt jedoch ohne dass er dabei beweglich ist.
Aus diesen beiden Gründen habe ich die Uhr dann reklamiert. Es wurde mir auch umgehend eine Ersatzuhr geliefert (innerhalb von 2 Tagen)
Diese Uhr ausgepackt und direkt gesehen das das Licht so gut wie nicht vorhanden war. Also extrem dunkler bzw. schwacher als meine jetzt defekte Uhr. Mit Amazon telefoniert und es wurde eine weitere Uhr geschickt. Ebenfalls wieder unfassbar schnell. Als diese Uhr kam, war die Beleuchtung ebenfalls nicht so toll, besser als das erste Ersatzmodell aber schwächer als mein reklamiertes Modell. Ich habe beide Neulieferungen zurückgeschickt. Amazon hat sich wirklich sehr sehr Kundenfreundlich gezeigt und mir für die Unannehmlichkeiten eine Gutschrift von xy Euro zukommen lassen. Mein Problem ist aber noch nicht gelöst und somit habe ich mich über die Suuntoseite direkt an den Hersteller gewendet. Dort kann man über die Seriennummer der Uhr einen Garantie/Reperaturantrag stellen, man erläutert den Sachverhalt und stimmt den agb's zu. Hinweis (sollte man aus der Garantie sein so kostet es ca. 30€ als Kostenvoranschlag und wird nach Rückmeldung vom Kunden dann verrechnet und soll nicht teurer sein als diese genannten 30€.) Die Uhr wird von ups abgeholt und geht dann nach Finnland. Innerhalb von einer Woche wurde mir dann eine weitere neue Uhr zugestellt da meine Uhr nicht reparabel sei. Das alte Armband wird auf die neue Uhr übertragen. Die nun neue Uhr ist bisher in allen Punkten Top (auch das Licht) so dass ich nicht weiter mosern kann.
Alles im allen scheinen die Mängel "Licht+Druckknöpfe" ein Serienproblem zu sein. Der Service von Amazon und Suunto ist jedenfalls Top. Da würde ich alle 5 Sterne geben. Aber wenn man bedenkt was die Uhr ursprünglich kostete dann kann man keine 5 Sterne geben. Auch nicht wenn man sie reduziert für 200€. Da stimmt dann Preis und Qualität nicht überein. Da ist jede Casio besser verarbeitet.
Am Schluss lautet mein Fazit:
Wirklich coole Uhr - würde ich nochmal kaufen aber es kommt jetzt ein neues Modell - da warte ich die Rezensionen mal ab.....
Für den Alltag super, Vielsportler würde ich eher davon abraten....

Armband ist sehr sehr angenehm
Technische Möglichkeiten sind bis auf ein paar Ausnahmen (nix für Taucher) ebenfalls Top
Höhenmesser funktioniert soweit ich das bisher beurteilen konnte
Sturmwarnung funktioniert ebenfalls Top.
Stoppuhr, Countdown, Barometer etc. auch super. Wenn man schwimmen geht und man auf den Grund von 5m taucht, so ist die Anzeige fast exakt. Super auch Sonnenaufgang und Untergang...wirklich nah an der Wahrheit...
Leider soll und darf man die Knöpfe unter Wasser nicht betätigen, das kann die Uhr schrotten. Also von daher sehe ich den Tiefenmesser nicht als Sinnvoll an. Eher etwas für Bergarbeiter ;-)
Thema Licht und Display-Anzeige:
Sie ist natürlich nicht so hell wie im Film der The Equalizer, da es sich bei der Uhr im Film um eine Sonderanfertigung für den Film handelt. Die Rezensenten die dies so extrem negativ abtun haben leider in den meisten Fällen (in nicht allen) Recht. Bei dieser Uhr ist die Beleuchtung super und für meine Augen ist alles sehr gut wahrnehmbar. Im Kino macht sich das ebenfalls positiv bemerkbar.
Thema Knöpfe und "schnell defekt" weil diese eingerastet bleiben. Auch hier haben die Rezensenten leider Recht.
Ich habe diese Uhr etwa 4 Monate im Einsatz gehabt und konnte alle Funktionen so nutzen wofür sie eigentlich auch da sind. Jedoch hat sich bei mir dann der obere linke Druckknopf verabschiedet bzw. seine Funktion verloren. Was speziell für das nutzen der Stoppuhr tragisch ist. weiterhin hat sich der mittlere rechte Druckknopf (Zugang zum Menü) verhakt. Er hat zwar seine Funktion weiterhin ausgeführt jedoch ohne dass er dabei beweglich ist.
Aus diesen beiden Gründen habe ich die Uhr dann reklamiert. Es wurde mir auch umgehend eine Ersatzuhr geliefert (innerhalb von 2 Tagen)
Diese Uhr ausgepackt und direkt gesehen das das Licht so gut wie nicht vorhanden war. Also extrem dunkler bzw. schwacher als meine jetzt defekte Uhr. Mit Amazon telefoniert und es wurde eine weitere Uhr geschickt. Ebenfalls wieder unfassbar schnell. Als diese Uhr kam, war die Beleuchtung ebenfalls nicht so toll, besser als das erste Ersatzmodell aber schwächer als mein reklamiertes Modell. Ich habe beide Neulieferungen zurückgeschickt. Amazon hat sich wirklich sehr sehr Kundenfreundlich gezeigt und mir für die Unannehmlichkeiten eine Gutschrift von xy Euro zukommen lassen. Mein Problem ist aber noch nicht gelöst und somit habe ich mich über die Suuntoseite direkt an den Hersteller gewendet. Dort kann man über die Seriennummer der Uhr einen Garantie/Reperaturantrag stellen, man erläutert den Sachverhalt und stimmt den agb's zu. Hinweis (sollte man aus der Garantie sein so kostet es ca. 30€ als Kostenvoranschlag und wird nach Rückmeldung vom Kunden dann verrechnet und soll nicht teurer sein als diese genannten 30€.) Die Uhr wird von ups abgeholt und geht dann nach Finnland. Innerhalb von einer Woche wurde mir dann eine weitere neue Uhr zugestellt da meine Uhr nicht reparabel sei. Das alte Armband wird auf die neue Uhr übertragen. Die nun neue Uhr ist bisher in allen Punkten Top (auch das Licht) so dass ich nicht weiter mosern kann.
Alles im allen scheinen die Mängel "Licht+Druckknöpfe" ein Serienproblem zu sein. Der Service von Amazon und Suunto ist jedenfalls Top. Da würde ich alle 5 Sterne geben. Aber wenn man bedenkt was die Uhr ursprünglich kostete dann kann man keine 5 Sterne geben. Auch nicht wenn man sie reduziert für 200€. Da stimmt dann Preis und Qualität nicht überein. Da ist jede Casio besser verarbeitet.
Am Schluss lautet mein Fazit:
Wirklich coole Uhr - würde ich nochmal kaufen aber es kommt jetzt ein neues Modell - da warte ich die Rezensionen mal ab.....
Für den Alltag super, Vielsportler würde ich eher davon abraten....
